Description

A Classic Guide for learning the nomenclature of fun lunar activities including observing, photography and other matters. This hard cover book has chapters writen by popular members of the British Astronomical Association as of the mid-nineteen-eighties, and therefore impressibly assembled. Excellent introductory topics on Lunar Librations, and eclipses and photography. Transient Lunar Phenomena are also discussed with a list of well-known areas of sightings.

The authors describe full and grazing lunar occultations and methods of observing,  touching briefly about equipment and procedure. A more advanced chapter reviews in short detail lunar photometric measurements of the albedo of various small selected lunar features. Another list labels colormetic backgrounds of additional lunar areas.

A hand hand-drawn map is included near the end.

A small easy to read book any lunar afectiaudo would be happy to have. While the volume is not meant to be an in-depth study of the moon, craters, and phenomena it provides an introduction to virtually all phases of what an amateur astronomer can become involved in doing hobby lunar work.
